Orphan Spaces Call for Participation

The Design Exchange and the Clean and Beautiful City Secretariat, City of Toronto, invite you to create a design team to participate in Orphan Spaces: Retail/Commercial.  This edition of  Orphan Spaces is co-curated by Ian Chodikoff, Editor of Canadian Architect magazine, as part of digifest 2006: MODS.

Following the success of our inaugural 2005 Series,  DX will host a series of design charrettes in 2006 that will bring together an array of individuals to re-design a selection of Orphan Spaces - areas that become lost in the shuffle of creating homes, businesses, parks, utility and transportation corridors and other phenomenon associated with large urban spaces.

The Call for Participation  is open to design professionals, community members and students who are interested in orphaned retail/commercial spaces and their surrounding areas and in contributing to their beautification. Individuals working in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, urban and regional design/planning and geographic analysis are highly encouraged to participate.
