Andrew Bousfield - Heartwood Place architect

Heartwood Place

90 new affordable apartments

HEARTWOOD PLACE is excited about its plans to develop the former Cambridge Reporter site in downtown Galt and build 90 new affordable apartments. Our architect, Andrew Bousfield has designed an attractive building that will incorporate the original facade into a new six-storey structure. Bright, spacious studio and one, two and three bedroom apartments will be created with attractive finishes, efficient mechanical systems, quality windows and insulation.

The plans include a coffee shop and bakery across from the bus station and an adjacent Community Room for use of tenants and downtown residents. A large roof-top patio on the third floor will create open space for tenants and friends to gather. There will be room on the site for adequate parking and green space.

The total project will cost $13 million which includes purchasing and preparing the site, building materials, construction costs, and associated fees, including the architect, lawyer, interim financing, etc.

Wanting to provide more affordable housing for our region is the primary reason for this development. Being part of the renaissance of downtown Galt is also very important for our organization. There are two ways you can help us create a new "community of hope" at 26 Ainslie Street South in Cambridge:

Donate to the "Site Purchase and Preparation Fund" Donate to the "Building Materials Fund"

If you will help us raise the money required to cover the cost of the site and the building materials, we will ensure that the balance of the project will be funded through government grants and bank financing. Together we can make this a very successful project, a new home for 90 tenants and a new community which will be a positive contribution to the surrounding neighbourhood.
