Colleagues,
Happy New Year!
Although some details are
still being ironed out, we are pleased to be able to announce
a series of monthly Lunch and Learns events
around the
theme of Sustainable Architecture. The intent is to
make available some more in depth practical information about
specific subjects on this increasingly prevalent theme.
The location of these events
will alternate between Kitchener and Guelph on the third
Wednesday of each of the next four months. Please mark those
dates on your calendars now..
The first event is the only
exception to Wednesday and will be a presentation by Terri
Meyer Boake from the School of Architecture who teaches a
graduate level research course on Sustainable Architecture. You
may remember that the GVSA won a challenge by the OAA to all
Societies in the province to come up with a project that could
be valuable to the entire OAA membership on this same theme.
Our project was to sponsor research guided by Terri to develop a
website with analysis of specific buildings using sustainable
principals.
Terri will
introduce our theme and demonstrate the ways that the website
can be resource to practicing architects.
